House of Maine started as something incredibly simple: just the two of us, a husband-and-wife team, completely in love with cats — and especially Maine Coons.

For most of our lives, we stood by #adoptdontshop, and we still believe strongly in giving animals a second chance. But as we began searching for specific breeds ourselves, we realised how hard it was to find breeders who were transparent, responsible, and truly cared about the wellbeing of their cats. That gap is what pushed us to build something better.

Today, we work only with licensed home breeders and reputable catteries who share our values. Our kittens are raised in real family homes — not in pet farms, not in high-volume settings. They grow up hearing laughter, daily chatter, children playing, and the comforting rhythm of normal family life. This is what shapes them into secure, loving, well-socialised companions.

Because we take this seriously, our Kitten Application Form is intentionally detailed. It’s not meant to intimidate; it’s simply our way of making sure each kitten goes to a home where they’ll be truly understood, appreciated, and loved for life.

My own Maine Coon journey began in 2023, when I brought home my first… and soon after, a second. They changed everything for me — my home, my routines, even the way I understood the breed. That was the spark that eventually became House of Maine.

At our core, we’re just two people who adore these gentle giants and want to share that joy with others, the right way.

FREYA

Freya is truly the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet. Our family has always had a soft spot for black cats, so the moment we saw her, we knew she was meant for us.

Her journey with us wasn’t the easiest — the cattery we got her from in Singapore had ties to unethical breeding practices, and she was even declared unwell. But by then, our hearts were already hers. We chose to bring her home anyway, determined to give her the love and care she deserved.

The first couple of years were filled with vet visits and slow progress, but Freya stayed strong, and so did we. Today, she’s an incredible girl with the gentlest spirit, and we wouldn’t change a single part of her story. She’s our reminder of resilience, love, and why we do what we do.

 

KAIA

Kai is our striking solid white boy with the most beautiful odd eyes — and a personality just as captivating. He’s a big boy with an even bigger presence; people often stop mid-stride just to admire him.

Despite his grandeur, Kai is wonderfully good-natured and endlessly curious. He adapts to new places with ease and loves joining us on little adventures. Bring him to a pet expo in his stroller, offer him a few Ciao treats, and he’s the happiest boy in the room.

Kai brings joy, confidence, and a touch of magic everywhere he goes — he’s truly one of a kind.
